The IMF’s 2025 purchasing-power-parity (PPP) estimate for GDP per capita was about 11,789 international dollars. PPP accounts for differences in local price levels, so it is not the same as a salary paid in U.S. dollars. (World Bank; IMF-based estimate)

GDP per capita is not an individual’s actual salary or take-home income. It is an average calculated by dividing a country’s total economic output by its population. India’s economy includes agriculture, manufacturing, information technology and other service industries.
